Hey, I’m Alley!

I’m a strategic communications pro based in Birmingham, AL who builds clarity out of chaos and turns big ideas into campaigns that resonate with diverse audience groups.

I have my Master’s in Communications Management and a BA in English with a focus in Professional Writing & Social Media—both from UAB, where I now lead marketing for genomic medicine programs and clinics, rare disease initiatives, and research efforts under the Chief Genomic Officer. Branding, web, outreach, enrollment, event strategy? That’s me. (More.)

Since 2020, I’ve been thriving in a remote/hybrid environment with help from my two feline coworkers (who are terrible at Slack, but occasionally give me great ideas about marketing strategy). During my workflow, you’ll usually find me drinking cold brew or a smoothie and listening to Miley Cyrus or Chappell Roan on repeat.

n Summer 2020 (exactly five months into my marriage!), I nearly died from COVID-19. Statistically speaking, I shouldn’t be here. My spouse is an ICU nurse—we’ve lived and are living both sides of the COVID coin. And health research literally saved my life: I was one of the last people enrolled in a global clinical trial, and I received the study medication—not the placebo. For patients like me, this difference was life or death.

That experience fundamentally reshaped how I think about health communication, access, and trust. It’s a big part of why I do what I do, and why I care deeply about making complex information clear, human, and actionable.

I’m writing a book about that season of life—the grief, the healing, and everything that came after. (Stay tuned!)

I’m currently exploring new opportunities—especially ones that value clarity, creativity, and impact. Let’s connect.
